What is a Walkabout Woman?
She’s got itchy feet. She wants to experience something new and different and exciting—in her and in the world—but she’s not quite sure what or how. She’ll get there, with sisters and inspiration and a journey led by another woman who, one day, said, ‘I need a walkabout.’
A walkabout is a journey that takes a woman away from home so she can nourish her unfed parts, connect with strangers, learn about herself and the world, and fulfill that longing for something more. Are you a Walkabout Woman?
As women we live our lives in service of others. We are moms and wives and lovers and friends ….nurturers of those around us. And sometimes in the process of doing this, we forget to nurture ourselves! We may even put parts of who we are to the side to be revisited when time and circumstances allow. Over time the unlived parts of us begin to speak up and surface. At first it’s a whisper…imploring us with ‘there is more….there is so much more….’ Eventually it bellows ‘THERE IS MORE!!’ And we find ourselves looking for nourishment for those unfed parts of us.
If this sounds like you then you are not alone. And it may be time you experienced your very own walkabout!
It means taking that first step toward that unlived part of us that calls out to us! And it also means greeting that part of us with openness to our walkabout experience....with no regard to the outcome.
Are you a woman who wants the following?
- To gain independence and confidence?
- To get out of your comfort zone by experiencing new things?
- To learn about other cultures and makes friends from around the world?
- To grow personally by exposing yourself to new perspectives and viewpoints?
- To change your life and the lives of others?
Walkabout women are into self-development and travel! We are not only looking for adventure and culture, but also for connection and understanding on a basic human level. As a traveller or a workshop attendee she wants the opportunity of experiencing the country she visits in a way that most tourists do not get to; as a local! AND, even though she is travelling alone, she will not be alone. She will join other Walkabout women possibly travelling alone as well! Together they will gain independence and confidence; together they will get out of their comfort zone and experiencing the richness of local life; together they will learn about other cultures and makes friends who will last a lifetime; together they will grow personally and be forever changed by the experience!
